Job Description

The Generation is seeking an Instagram Marketing Associate to facilitate the growth of our Instagram as well as boosting audience engagement and retention. Perfect for someone with a deep understanding of The Instagram algorithm, 411 Content Strategy and the audience engagement cycle.


Manage our Instagram account through:

  • Use our automation system to prepare strong CTAs, captions and hashtag strategy
  • A regular content cycle
  • Designing posts in Figma
  • Create eye-grabbing copy
  • Coordinate with content team for more engaging and top-priority graphics
  • Engage with our community of partners and students by commenting, liking and sharing
  • Using organic growth methods and avidly avoiding SFS or any other spam engagement system
  • Build a bi-weekly report for our CMO and communicate your ideas
  • Coordinate with influencers and partners

About You / Desirable Qualities

  • Deep understanding of the Instagram algorithm (must be able to report the 6 latest algorithm changes)
  • Familiarity with 411 Content Strategy and audience engagement methods
  • Interest in social-impact nonprofits and knowledge of ways to best support them over social media
  • An organized creative who can easily execute a content cycle
  • Skills in graphic design and ideally motion design as well
  • Acute copy-writing skills and has favorite hook/CTA tag lines
  • A high school or university student that is passionate about providing value to students
  • A self-starter who often goes above and beyond
  • A clear communicator who is radically candid and naturally motivates others

Team & Work Environment

As an Instagram Marketing Associate, you will work closely with our CMO, Content Team, PR & Comms Director and other officers to maximize our impact.

Team Meetings

You and the other team members can meet regularly depending on project needs.

Bi-weekly "All Hands" Meetings.

We usually open with a quick strategy & reporting based-agenda and then use this time to work collaboratively and bond.

Bi-Weekly 1:1 Checkins

Meet with Lia (the CMO) for 1:1 checkins. Agenda includes feedback questions as well as room to pitch your ideas or report on the product directly.

Weekly Standup - Marketing

Meet with the rest of the marketing division on a regular basis.


1) The Generation is student-led (all team members are under the age of 25 - Gen Z Cut off) so while there is no maximum age, our mission is to empower young students. No technical minimum age, skillset is all that matters.

2) Because of the volunteer status of every role at The Generation, you are not required to live in the US however you must reside in the time zone constraints.
